ABOUT THIS PIECE

The Golden Egg was inspired by the very first Faberge egg created for Czar Alexander III in 1885, called the Jeweled Hen Egg. It was completely white with a gold waistband and within, it held a pure gold hen with a miniature crown. While this version holds no crown, it does hold a stunningly beautiful brass-plated real egg that has been enrobed with 24-carat real gold and nestled on a bed of gold “straw.” This very small Kobako is closed with hidden metal strips that keep the top firmly connected to the base.
