Mexican Amate Flores paper is made by hand today in much the same way when first produced by the Mayan and Aztec civilizations. As a result, each sheet is unique and the pattern used in this Kobako is the elegant flower pattern. Once the double-hinged Kobako is opened, the floral theme established by the Amate paper on the exterior continues to the interior tray which features a hand-painted sheet of copper paper, adorned with paper flowers and oxidized copper petals.
